#Staycation

Last weekend, a couple of friends and I travelled to the beautiful Mudgee wine region.

As it was my first time in Mudgee, I was very excited to see what the town had to offer. I had only heard great things and Mudgee surely did not disappoint. The cherry blossoms were out, the food was delicious, the locals were lovely and extremely accommodating.

We went to a selection of lovely wineries, a boutique distillery and a popular local brewery.
The day consisted of essentially wine tasting and cheese sampling, It was perfect.

Mudgee Town Center

Despite the storm clouds that constantly loomed above us, the atmosphere and location was breathtaking. Every winery we popped into was simply beautiful; the service, scenery and wine selection were most outstanding. The afternoon was spent enjoying a hot roast lunch at the gorgeous LOWE winery by an open fire and looking over their maze of vineyards.

*I also made a new friend (below). Meet Louise Lowe everyone.

A couple more photos I took during the trip below. :)

The sun came out as Sunday came around, and so did home time. Back to reality, but not before a visit to the town centre, and making an essential stop for some fresh local honey from Honey Haven. Every now and then it is nice to have a little getaway from busy city life, relax and enjoy the grapes. I especially enjoyed the Mudgee wineries, and will definitely come back again and perhaps stay even longer.

It was a comfortable drive; thanks to Ford Australia for the getting us a car!

Small Town Glory Part II

Next stop is Gerroa.

We left Jervis Bay just before lunch time heading to a local winery called Two Figs Winery on our way to Gerroa. The winery is located on top of a hill and the view was incredibly stunning; overlooking a river, vineyards and glimpse of a town nearby.

Not only that, the wine tasting menu wasn’t too shabby as well. It’s only appropriate to brought a couple back with us, I guess…

Anyways, we arrived at Gerroa in the late arvo, dropped our stuff to where we stayed and head to the beach right after; watching sunset with a glass of white wine, some cheese and crackers. ;)

We woke up early in the morning (again) to see sunrise at Bombo Quarry. Another chilly morning, (I believe it was around 2 degrees) we braved ourself walking in the dark to get to the rock formations.

It was definitely worth it at the end though.

Before heading back to Sydney, we decided to go to Berry and get some food. (I meant doughnuts…). Got myself a banana milkshake too, it was so good, soooo good.

Then, to end the trip, we decided to make a last stop at Wollongong (it is on the way to Sydney anyway, so why not) and went to a place called Dagwood.

The pork roll was the bomb, the burger was pretty good too!

What a way to end a road trip though.

Thanks to Ford (@fordaustralia) for the amazing Kuga and
Brathwait for the beautiful watch!
